Love carvings
engraved
on wood and cement
the occasional elevator
imperishable testaments
to perishable promises
to be scraped into the sand
to be swept into the sea
to dissolve
to be processed
to be gushed across your garden
to dry out
to return to dust
to rise up on the backs of winds
to crash into you
to sit on your skin
to sit on your lungs
for you to cough and sweat me out
for me to drift, unhinged
separated from you
but unmovingly present
appearing briefly on those incandescent mornings
when the sun shines through the shutters
for you to see me dance
across the room
for you to breathe me
in and out
and in and out
